LIGHT TOURING POLE WHEEL -BGM Pro TOURING 2.0 Electronics 2300g- for Vespa PX, Cosa, LML
The BGM PRO pole wheel is a complete new development and is made of finest zamak casting. Usable for engines with already existing electronic ignition (12Volt) as well as for the conversion of contact-controlled engines with 6 volts to a maintenance-free electronic ignition with 12Volt usable. WEIGHT
With 2300 grams, the BGM8025RT (T for Touring) corresponds exactly to the weight of the original pole wheels of the PX Elestart models. It offers the ideal combination of sufficient flywheel mass for powerful starting torque and compact concentration of mass for lively engine revving. Compared to the very heavy pole wheels of the older PX models (without Elestart) it offers between 17-28% less flywheel mass.
ACCELERATION
The lighter weight significantly improves acceleration, explicitly in the lower gears. Even if the BGM8025RT replaces an equally heavy pole wheel of an Elestart model, a significantly better engine performance is achieved due to the more compact mass concentration as well as the reduced wing area.
PERFORMANCE & COOLING
The cooling vanes are smaller and are on a smaller outer diameter than the standard pole wheels. This means that for engines in the 20hp class, an average of 1-1.5hp is gained over the entire rev band, just by replacing the pole wheel. The continued high cooling performance was very important to us and we therefore tested this in our own trials with maximum load. Even thermally rather critical engines, such as a Polini 207 cast iron with SI24 carburetor, could be driven many kilometers at a stretch with continuous full throttle on the highway at 30°C outside temperature in midsummer. It remained thermally completely stable. The pole wheel is thus fully suitable for everyday use.
ELESTART
The pole wheel does not have a ring gear for the electric starter. It can therefore be installed and driven on all models with an electric starter, but the electric start function is then no longer available.
ALTERNATIVES
For those who like it even sportier, we recommend our 1600 gram light BGM pole wheel BGM8025RS.
RECOMMENDATION
We recommend the BGM8025RT for all touring and street oriented engines. The less base power the engine brings the more likely you should be on the heavier side with flywheel weight. Excessively light flywheels (under 1600 grams) offer no advantages here.
