The Dell’Orto PHB series has been on the market for many decades and is a firm favourite in the two-wheeler sector due to its versatility.
The carburettors can be used in both two- and four-stroke vehicles due to the different mixing tubes.
Due to the widespread use of Dell’Orto carburettors, spare parts supply is also very good.

The somewhat aged design has both advantages and disadvantages compared to its more modern counterpart. Its universal design makes this type of carburettor the perfect all-rounder which is in good hands in everyday use. The disadvantage of the, compared to modern carburettors of Japanese design, not very fine atomization is also an advantage.

This is how a PHB carburettor works in all weather conditions and it shows itself as a grateful candidate when tuning it, by showing very quickly if the mixture is too rich or too lean. A Mikuni or Keihin carburettor usually runs surprisingly well even when tuned too lean, which unfortunately can quickly lead to a problem.

If problems with the fuel supply are suspected, it is advisable to convert to a larger float needle valve (#250).
