Description

Solid 2.5 inch alloy rim from FA.Italia. This light alloy rim allows the mounting of tubeless tires, as they are common in the motorcycle sector. It replaces the standard rim of the Vespa Cosa or Piaggio SKR125 / Quartz50 without any further modification. Vehicles which have the narrower 2.1 inch rims as standard (e.g.: Vespa 50N, Special, V50, PV125, ET3, Rally, Sprint, PX80-200 etc.) can be converted to wide tyres with these rims without any problems and further modifications.
300 grams lighter than the 2.5 inch standard steel rim
Useable for tubeless & tubular tires
Safety plus through double-hump
Good concentricity
Easy mounting
Appealing appearance
Tyres up to 120 millimeters wide can be mounted (120/70-10, 120/90-10)
WEIGHT REDUCTION
The weight saving compared to an original Cosa/SKR steel rim is 300 grams. In addition, there is a weight saving of approx. 370 grams due to the no longer required tube. The unsprung masses are thus reduced by over half a kilogram per axle (-38%). The response behaviour of the chassis improves noticeably.
SAFETY
Due to a double so-called “hump” in the rim well, the tyre always sits securely in the rim. Similar to the latest runflat technology in the automotive sector, if a foreign object (nail or similar) is driven into the rim, the air can escape slowly without the tyre slipping into the rim well. The vehicle is thus brought to a controlled stop.
The rim has recesses between the screw-on points. Brake cooling is improved.
On the 2.50 inch rim width, tyres up to 120 millimetres wide are officially permitted (standard rim). This significantly increases the wheel contact area and allows considerably more lateral guidance and braking force to be transferred to the road.
SPECIAL FEATURES
If the rim is used as a replacement for an existing 2.5 inch rim (Cosa / SKR), the track offset is a negligible 2.5 millimetres. If it is used as a wide tyre rim on a vehicle with a former 2.10 inch rim width, the track offset on the left side is 4.5 millimetres. Mounting the aluminium rims on both axles equalises the track offset. During hard braking, a slight, one-sided pull on the front axle is noticeable. A nice combination is the use of a 2.10 inch aluminium rim at the front in combination with a 2.50 inch aluminium rim at the rear. Perfectionists compensate for the rear track offset to the front axle by offsetting the engine to the right by about 2.5 millimetres.
The aluminium rim is ready for installation. The tyres can be mounted by hand with standard tyre changers or conveniently at a tyre dealer/motorbike workshop.
The rim has a raised cast-in company and size marking (2.50×10).
It does not have a test mark and is not road legal. For tubeless (TL) tyres. When using tubed tyres (tube type), fit a tube instead of the valve supplied.
The delivery includes six closed high cap nuts (chrome-plated, SW12) and an enclosed valve. Rim weight 1300 grams.
NOTE: All tubeless 10 inch rims for Vespa and Lambretta do not comply with the ERTRO standard. The diameter in the centre of the rim is a little too large due to the design, the tyre cannot sit sufficiently far into the rim well when fitted. Mounting by hand (with mounting levers) is very time-consuming, as the tyre bead is under a lot of tension.
Tyre fitting should therefore only be carried out by a specialist with the appropriate equipment (tyre fitting machine).
