LIGHT SPORT POLE WHEEL -BGM PRO SPORT 2.0 ELEKTRONIK 1600g- for Vespa PX, Cosa, LML
The BGM PRO pole wheel is a completely new development and is made of finest cast aluminum. Usable for engines with already existing electronic ignition (12Volt) as well as for the conversion of contact-controlled engines with 6 volts to a maintenance-free electronic ignition with 12Volt usable. WEIGHT
At 1600 grams, the BGM8025RS (S for Sport) has significantly less flywheel mass than a stock pole wheel. Compared to the very heavy pole wheels of the older PX models (without Elestart), it offers up to 50% less flywheel mass. This makes the BGM8025RS ideal for all sporty engines and engine concepts that have sufficient excess power and / or a not too long gearbox. Due to the low flywheel mass, this pole wheel protects the crankshaft and the drive and can also be used without problems in engines well above 30HP. Also suitable to equip its series engine with a significantly better acceleration. The lighter flywheel mass makes the engine much more spontaneous, but also loses some of its tractor-like starting torque, for which the Vespa engines are known.
ACCELERATION
The lighter weight improves acceleration very significantly, explicitly in the lower gears. Together with a short-stepped gearbox, it quickly achieves motorcycle-like feeling when one gear after the other can be shifted through bitingly and quickly.Due to the more compact mass concentration as well as the reduced wing area, one gets significantly better engine performance.
POWER & COOLING
The cooling vanes are smaller and are on a smaller outer diameter than the standard pole wheels. Thus, for engines in the 20hp class, an average of 1-1.5hp is gained over the complete speed range, just by replacing the pole wheel. The continued high cooling performance was very important to us and we therefore tested this in our own trials with maximum load. Even thermally rather critical engines, such as a Polini 207 cast iron with SI24 carburetor, could be driven many kilometers at a stretch with continuous full throttle on the highway at 30°C outside temperature in midsummer. It remained thermally completely stable. The pole wheel is thus fully suitable for everyday use.
ELESTART
The pole wheel does not have a ring gear for the electric starter. It can therefore be installed and driven on all models with an electric starter, but the electric start function is then no longer available.
ALTERNATIVES
For those who still like it sporty but not quite as light, we recommend our 2300 gram light BGM Touring Pole Wheel BGM8025RT.
RECOMMENDATION
We recommend the BGM8025RS for all sporty oriented engines. Engines with high basic power do not need a heavy flywheel and benefit from the light BGM8025RS in all driving situations. The lower weight protects the crankshaft and the drive, especially for engines that can rev up extremely quickly due to their power.
